Potato Please story

The depot story is told in paper, not in cutscenes I can cite. Four things show up often enough to list. None of them, on the sources below, is the lever that sends the train. That lever is the Golden Key and the line you choose, covered on the endings page.

Pavel and the letters

Pavel does not appear in the room. He writes. The guide says the letters describe a life outside and sometimes ask for help, and that a reply changes later text. It does not say which reply changes which line. A Steam thread titled “Problem with letters” is the only sign that the paper UI can stick. 1.0.1 does not mention letters, so I am not calling that thread fixed.

The puppy

After the puppy shows up in the cold outside, the terminal sells Dog Food for 3. Stand close and use the interact key. The guide says the puppy then helps carry potatoes, and Good Boy unlocks (72.4% of players on 5 November 2026). Hotfix 1.0.1 lets you mute the puppy, and potatoes the puppy peels no longer count as machine output. Hotfix 1.0.2 extends the mute to the lost whine.

Resistance Notes

Some potatoes hide a note. You can turn it in or keep it. The guide says that choice changes story text and does not, by itself, pick the train. A Korean review adds a tighter claim: the choice should match the line you eventually ride if you want that ending’s text. Those are two wordings. I am leaving both, not a blended rule. Your Own Executioner remains an achievement with no confirmed steps; players guess it involves Pavel, and the guess is not a guide.
